The post The FBI Seizes $1.7 Million in Crypto from a Drug Trafficking Operation! appeared first on Coinpedia Fintech News
The US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) seized approximately $1.7 million worth of cryptocurrency, according to court documents filed in California. The funds were linked to a darknet drug trafficking operation that involved using the cryptocurrency to purchase illegal narcotics. The FBI managed to track down the recipient wallet addresses and has seized the ill-gotten funds from a suspect’s digital wallet. This is just another example of the US government’s effort to track down criminals who use cryptocurrency for illegal activities. The FBI also recently helped Colonial Pipeline recover millions of dollars in Bitcoin that had been paid to hackers who had attacked the company’s cyber infrastructure earlier this year.
