China’s Shandong province has unveiled draft guidelines aimed at boosting the expansion of its metaverse industry, with plans to develop industries to reach a market size of CNY150bn ($20.5bn) by 2025. The government aims to build several metaverse related industrial parks and nurture at least 100 metaverse companies. Specifically, the local government said it would operate to facilitate companies to apply for at least 3,000 international and domestic patents by 2025. The Chinese blockchain industry has seen huge acquisitions over recent months, with the government aiming to position China as a global innovation hub.
