Sarah Breeden, who will soon become the deputy governor of financial stability at the Bank of England, has expressed concern about the risks posed by cryptocurrencies while acknowledging the benefits offered by blockchain technology. Breeden, who will take up the role on November 1, made her comments while testifying before the Treasury Committee in Parliament on Tuesday. Her views coincide with a new report from Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs, which has found that monthly registrations for cryptocurrency exchanges have soared by more than 1,000% in the past year.
