Crypto firms 21Shares and ARK Investment Management have filed for the first US exchange-traded fund to invest directly in Ether. The ARK 21Shares Ethereum ETF, if approved by the Securities and Exchange Commission, would be the first US ETF to be physically backed by the second-largest cryptocurrency, and would trade under the ticker ARKE. The filing comes as expectations for SEC approval of cryptocurrency ETFs rise following a recent court ruling in favor of Grayscale Investments, which led to the fund manager reintroducing a Bitcoin trust as a SEC reporting firm.
